Letter to her grandson, C.C. Pinckney, Jr., in which Elliott suggests impact of both the Second Great Awakening and the Sunday School movement on the spiritual life of South Carolinians. Letter, 7 Sept. 1832, in which Mrs. Elliott rejoices over the news of religious conversions among family members, suggesting that the flourishing state of religious instruction among the African American slaves was due in part to "hard preaching of Mr. Moore" and fear of cholera, and reporting the death of "your young friend R. Habersham" and noting success of Sunday school.
